Academia Sinica–National Taiwan University Innovative Joint Research Project

Politics and Religion in China and the Eurasian Worlds from Antiquity to the Early Modern Era

Bringing together history, literature, philosophy, religious studies, and theatre studies, this project integrates the world-class humanities resources of National Taiwan University and Academia Sinica to make forward-looking scholarly contributions to a question of deep historical importance and contemporary relevance—the relationship between politics and religion—viewed from the perspectives of China, Eurasia, and the world, and it seeks dialogue and collaboration with leading scholars in the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Japan, and beyond. The project also emphasizes training the next generation of scholars in Taiwan: supported by distinguished senior scholars, it is led by outstanding early-career researchers from NTU and Academia Sinica and especially invites undergraduate and graduate students in NTU’s humanities and social sciences to take part, fostering continuity and collaboration across generations of Taiwan’s humanities and the mutual enrichment of research and teaching.
